Artist's Comments

The first big piece of 2004, and it's GREEN!!! never worked with green on this scale before so it's something new for me.. this is *nightmare-flavoured- 's doing since she suggested i do a green one :P. I was originally working on "stolen from God" as the base render for this but i couldn't make the sky transition work so i re-rendered at a different angle and used a different atmosphere. I was still tempted to add a human figure on the grassy hills to the right but decided against it.

But yeah, this is my first really big job using my new wacom tablet :) and with the nebula, the results are noticeable. The nebula was originally worked on outside on my laptop in a separate .psd and i was staring at the sky using clouds as references... it took sometime, and i got cold :| but it turned out nicely... I've managed to get the contrast better this time too. I've tried not to go overboard with the stars and planets, just some refining of the style i've adopted.... since this piece is more space than planet, then let's just say it's more science fiction. Since i'm now part of the spaceartists group i might use this as the submission for the pack.

So stats...

Terragen pre render = 2 hours
Terragen render = 1hour
Terragen post render = 1hour (all terragen worked on pre-holiday).
Photoshop time = 14 hours (over about 3 days)
Original canvas size = 3000*4500
.psd size = 211mb
Layers = 94 (nebula only used 4 layers this time... rather than a butt load :\)
Tools = Terragen, Wacom Tablet, Photoshop6

So yeah, that's it, enjoy the image... Comments and fav's make alyn happy, and don't forget to FULL VIEW else ye shall be smited.

Thanking ye muchly.
